Cowork Day One
A free plugin that takes you from just installed to safely set up and one real task done, then hands you to Cowork OS when you are ready.
Before Day One, you need Claude Cowork itself. It is part of Claude, on the paid plans, and to let it work with a folder on your computer you use the Claude desktop app. Claude's own setup gets you into Cowork in a couple of minutes. You do not need any setup command, and you do not need any other plugin first.
Once you are in Cowork, install Day One and type one phrase. From there it does the careful part for you: it connects your tools, sets up one tidy folder, and turns on safe habits, asking before every change. Then it gets one real task done as a draft you review.
Day One is a guided on-ramp, not a magic button. It will not send anything or do your work for you. Already using Cowork OS? You can still add Day One: it checks what you already have and never resets anything, and the two work together.

Everything stays a draft until you say send, and nothing is scheduled that could surprise you. It is built to make a beginner safe first.
Keep it as a .zip. Do not unzip or rename the file you download; Cowork accepts only the .zip.
How to install and start
You need Claude Cowork (in the Claude desktop app). From there it takes about a minute.
- Download the zip above and save it anywhere on your computer.
- In Claude Cowork, open Customize in the left menu. Choose Add plugin, then Create plugin, then Upload plugin, and select the zip.
- Open a new chat and type: help me set up Cowork safely. Day One checks what you have and walks you through the rest, one approval at a time.
- When you are set up, type: do my first Cowork task. It gets one real thing from your work done, as a draft you review.
- Any time, type: check my Cowork setup to make sure it is still safe. When you pass, type: am I ready for Cowork OS to move up.
