EASE OS
A free plugin that keeps your Claude Cowork workspace lean, so your sessions last longer and nothing gets lost between them.
New to Claude Cowork? EASE OS works well on its own, so you can start here. If you prefer to ease in first, there is a beginner plugin, EASE Day One. See Claude Cowork.
Claude Cowork is brilliant until your workspace fills up. The clutter reloads every session and eats the tokens you needed for real work.
EASE OS is sixteen small skills that run and tidy the workspace for you. It loads only what each task needs, keeps your memory lean, files your notes and correspondence where they belong, sets up new projects, captures thoughts for later, pauses unfinished work for a fresh chat, pressure-tests your decisions before you commit and fits itself to your goals and the way you write.
- Loads only what a task needs, so you burn fewer tokens
- Carries your work across sessions with no re-explaining
- Keeps your memory lean and your notes where they belong
- Tidies your workspace and clears built-up clutter
- Sets up new projects in seconds and captures thoughts for later
- Pauses unfinished work and picks it up in a fresh chat
- Pressure-tests a decision before you commit to it
It never changes or deletes anything without your say-so, and it backs up before it replaces a file. I built it for my own workspace, then took my own data out so anyone can run it.
One expectation to set before you download it: EASE OS is a quiet background layer, not a tool that does your work. It will not write your emails or build your slides, and nothing flashy happens on day one. The payoff builds as you use Cowork for real work.
EASE stands for the four habits the kit keeps: Everything has a home, Ask before acting, Save before you replace and End each session with a debrief. Until October 2026 it was called Cowork OS. It is the same kit under a new name.
Free, from Claude’s plugin directory. You add it inside Claude Cowork, using the steps below.
The source is open on GitHub, with a Claude Code install line in the README.
How to install and start
You need Claude Cowork (in the Claude desktop app), with code execution and file creation switched on under Settings, then Capabilities. From there it takes about a minute.
- In Claude Cowork, open Customize in the left menu. Choose Add plugin and search for EASE OS.
- Add EASE OS. From then on it updates itself whenever a new version comes out.
- Open a new chat, select one folder for your work and take the tour. Use the same folder every time. Type what does the EASE OS plugin do to see what you now have. It changes nothing.
- Run setup. Type optimise my workspace. It checks what you already have, adds only what is missing and asks before adding anything.
- Bring it real work. Ask Cowork to plan your week, and type remember this when something matters. In your next chat, it is already known.
Typed a phrase and nothing happened? Start a new chat, select your EASE OS folder and type the exact phrase again. Still stuck? Get in touch and I will help you sort it.
The one-page guide covers the same steps and what each of the sixteen skills does.
Coming from Cowork OS? Uninstall it first (Customize, then Plugins, then Uninstall), because the two answer to the same phrases, then add EASE OS. Everything you set up stays exactly as it is.
Installed EASE OS from a zip? Uninstall that copy the same way, then add it from Customize. Only the copy you add from there keeps itself up to date.
